AIC Executive Director Emad Kiyaei discusses Syria crisis on AJAM

AIC Executive Director Emad Kiyaei speaks with Al Jazeera America on Iran's inclusion in talks over resolving the Syrian crisis taking place in Vienna.

When asked what leverage Iran holds in these talks, Kiyaei replied, "A great deal." He added, "If you look at the landscape and who is supporting Assad, it is Iran and Russia. Iran provides an underground advisory role to the Syrian army and Iran has a historical link with Syria that connects economic, societal and religious segments. So, Iran does have the influence to guide the direction of the Syrian government and what it may commit to in these negotiations."
