Amirahmadi says Saudi Arabia is Harming the Image of the US in the Muslim World

Founder and President of American Iranian Council Dr. Hooshang Amirahmadi talks with RT about the backlash in Tehran over Riyadh's move to execute 47 people on terrorism charges, among them a prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Amirahmadi discusses how "it is in the best interest of the regional governments and the world leaders, including Russia and the United States, to mediate immediately...and to start a dialogue." Simply criticizing the actions of Saudi Arabia is insufficient, the US must do more because inaction will not only be detrimental to its image among Shia Muslims, but among all muslims. He says "This is not a conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran; it is between the Sunni Islam and Shia Islam." He confesses that it has unfortunately become a conflict between the two countries, but it is a sectarian conflict at its core.
